oh land!

I know I am slightly behind on my up to date music news and normally I am not very inspired by used-to- be-ballerina-perfect-Scandinavian-gorgeous-blondes, but this lady, Nanna Øland Fabricius, the lead singer of Oh Land is pretty cool, and the music is pretty cool too

Is she some kind of model?Surprisingly not. While Norway’s Nanna Øland Fabricius (to give her her full name) looks gorgeous enough to own all manner of catwalks, the striking chanteuse has chosen popular song as her way to earn a living.

Why bother? Why not just stick to being a clotheshorse? She comes from a musical heritage (her mother is an opera singer and her father an organist) and she seems to have an irrepressible urge to make music. As a teenager she trained to be a ballet dancer until a slipped disc in her back put paid to that.

What does she sound like?Playful pop with a classical edge and a dubstep-influenced backbone. She now lives in Brooklyn and recently collaborated with Magnetic Man.
